The Summer holidays are here, and sadly in our little part of Lancashire the sun has gone into hiding this week :( It's not all bad ...at least the rain hasn't arrived...yet! ;) Whilst everywhere else in the country seems to be basking in sunshine (there are even public health warnings and advice about the heat) here in Lancashire it is overcast with a teensy bit of a chill... Luckily by the weekend we'll be basking in some of that promised sunshine as we head to our holiday cottage in Cornwall :)
So before life gets hectic and busy with last minute washing, cleaning and the packing of holiday bags I thought I'd drop by and share some of this and that :)
My stitching time slowed down in-between end of school year assemblies, class party's and parents evenings but I've managed to place a stitch or two...
I prepped and initially started 'Brick House Sampler' by Brenda Gervais just before my Gallbladder surgery...
There is still quite a lot to do and it will keep me busy on an evening during the holidays but I'm happy with my progress so far and am back to enjoying each stitch :)
Mr Postman called with a little package...
There's been mischief afoot in my garden ...
A certain little man seems to think he has green fingers and likes to get hands-on with his Grandma's flower pots and garden ornaments! Although quite heavily 'pruned' I managed to rescue my pretty new yellow flowers before he got tooo carried away ...it lives in the front garden now where its relatively safe ...I still have to watch him with my geraniums though ;) Little bubba is much more adventurous now he's walking here there and everywhere ...It is going to be fun to see what trouble he gets up to on holiday with the Angels ! :) :)
I had a lovely surprise yesterday...
A friend that I've not seen in a long while dropped by on the off-chance that I'd be home with my Angels... She had been clearing out some of her craft cupboards and found some plastic bags of wool scraps and wondered if I could make use of them. :) Can you imagine how excited I was? I most assuredly said a very grateful yes and gladly accepted her scraps ...that she was going to throw away!!! My fingers were twitching to delve inside and have a rummage, but we had a little chat whilst she visited for a short time ...until Angel Esther wouldn't stop waving goodbye to her and she felt encouraged to leave....Ooops! ...hehehe (I'd turned the volume down on the film the Angels were watching so my friend and I could chat and Angel Esther was not impressed and for a non-verbal young lady made herself very well understood!! ...hehehe) I did feel a little bad that in the midst of my excitement I actually forgot to offer my friend a drink whilst she was here ...bad hosting skills ;( But I was thrilled when I got to open those plastic bags ....OOoooh ......I love other peoples woolly scraps! hahahahahha :)
That's about all we've been up to at the start of our holidays .... Cake has been involved ...naturally!
It's not going to help my summer-time-beach-body ! ;) Good job I'm not one for baring the flesh ...hahahha ...because those cakes were sooooo worth an extra love-handle or two! hehehehehe
Things are progressing slowly with re-organising Angel Esther's support package with Adult Social Services. We had a good visit from our 'assigned' social worker, she actually seems very nice and supportive and has rung me each week to keep me updated. Funding is now in place to provide Angel Esther with an extra day each week at her current Day Services placement, so she'll be able to attend Monday-Friday which is excellent news. :) We are just waiting upon space availability and staff-support at the centre but hopefully by the time she returns in September we'll have a date for when her extra day can begin :) The Overnight Respite is a little more challenging, our Angels need 1 to 1 and 'wake and watch' support through the night, it is proving a little more problematic to find a placement with a new provider suitable to meet my Angels needs. Facilities that provide the level of support our Angel needs are sooo very limited in Adult Services and those that are able, are often oversubscribed and in high demand. We knew it wasn't going to be easy, but it is relatively still early days, we are trying to be patient, I'll start to worry more if we are still at this same point come Christmas! :(
For now we are going to try and enjoy our Summer Holidays ...we have cake filled days and sunshine to wish for. We also have to address our responsibility to inflict terror upon the residents and all the other holiday-makers going to Cornwall next week! ;) hahahhahaha
Hopefully there'll be no sorry tales to share from our adventures on holiday this year. :)

P.S ... Blogger is still not notifying me of comments :( But I have realised that I can respond to comments by posting a 'reply' to the original comment on my blog ...does that make sense? The weird thing is I can only do that on my iPhone, it won't let me do it on my iPad or laptop ...is that not strange? I hope if you leave a comment you can see my reply... I promise I'm not ignoring anyone! And if anyone knows a solution to getting back the notifications please let me know :) x x x
