Happy New Years Eve ...

Sooo very quickly we seem to have come to the end of another year, in just a very short time we will be starting at the beginning of 2018 ...  This evening we have spent a some lovely, happy time with our families; Great Grandma came home from hospital on Friday, she is still very tired and exhausted but glad to be in her own bed. She didn't feel up to  any New Years Eve frivolities tonight so we spent a few quiet hours visiting her earlier this evening, before we spent some more rather rowdy hours with Hubby's brothers and their families :) hehehe ...  When the excitement became a bit much for my Angels we slipped quietly away to enjoy some quiet snuggly time together at home ...

We are  now snuggling next to the twinkly lights of the Christmas tree ...
Angel Mim keeps peeking out of the curtains to watch some of the early firework displays, whilst Angel Esther is content to watch the displays on TV...
It's a good way to spend the last few moments of 2017 :)

Such a lot seems to have happened this year, we've had the excitement of welcoming Jacob home from his Church Mission to Spain all the way back in February. The wonderful event of Bubba Daniel being born and becoming such a loved and important part of our family, Angel Esther graduating school and moving into Adult Services,  Jacob starting University to name a few ...Highs and lows are natural and normal and I'm glad to report that  we've enjoyed some and survived others :) All in all I think we've had more Highs this year than lows ...and that's a good thing :) hehehe
I'm not sure what 2018 holds for us, we have no missionaries returning home, no babies due to be born... I think I'd be happy to have a quiet peaceful year with maybe just a teensy weensy pinch of excitement.  It will be fun to see how a New Year unfolds :)  We are always ready to have wonderful family adventures and enjoy as much Angel chaos and mayhem as is our normal due in life ...I'm sure my Angels will have no problem in maintaining their high standards of mischievousness ;)  I wish all our family and friends and loved ones, a very Happy and Peaceful New Year! :)

Lots of love Wendy x x  x

Happy Boxing Day :)

Boxing Day is one of my favourite days of  the year...guilt free laziness :) A day to lounge around wearing PJ's and nibbling on leftovers, munching on chocolates and treats. The boys out playing football and coming home tired and stinky but happy. Cuddling and snuggling with my Angels whilst watching films on TV.
Its been a little bit different this year with Mum being in hospital, we had to jiggle things around and unfortunately I didn't get to wear my new Christmas PJ's all day.  Mum was a little bit weepy when I visited her today, she's just tired of being in discomfort, disappointed that she's missed Christmas and missing Dad  :(  Once we get her home and she can rest we can celebrate Christmas with her and she'll feel better. :)

Our Christmas has been different this year and I'm sorry to say that I have suffered a far worse trauma than Mum being in hospital   ;)....I was most distressed and completely devastated last night when having settled down after the festivities of the day we decided to sample a slice of homemade Christmas cake.....to my horror ... not one, not two but all six of my deliciously, very fruity ..with extra cherries for Jacob.. all of my Christmas cakes had turned mouldy!! I don't understand it...I followed the same recipe that I always follow. Allowed for all the appropriate cooling time over several days before wrapping and sealing and storing in airtight tins. I've not tampered with them, just lovingly looked at the tins over the last several months with excited anticipation of opening and eating them! Maybe they hadn't cooled long enough, or its possible that the extra cherries held more fluid from when I soaked the fruit and that caused the cakes to be too moist and go mouldy ..who knows?? But it was very sad putting all six of my lovely cakes in the bin  :( and to top it off....I forgot to make the trifle last night so we had no Boxing Day Trifle to indulge in today either ... I'm a complete Christmas  failure ;) hahahaha ...Oh well there's always next year ...and at least my hips won't suffer tooo much this year ... and funnily enough the small quarter of Christmas cake that we still had leftover from last year was actually very moist and very yummy ...just not enough for everyone to have a slice ...I was more than happy when hubby sacrificed his slice! hehehehe  So that's my Christmas woes.
I received some lovely gifts this year ...I can't quite remember all of them as my Angels as always helped with the unwrapping and with visiting Mum I had to secrete them safely away quite quickly after opening them ... My Angels have a few hours respite with their carers on Thursday so I'll get to have a little play and take some photos to remember  :)

Importantly, I managed to complete my December Advent Calender each day, which I'm very pleased about.  It will be fun to read back in years to come ...I've still not found the original red Christmas advent folder.
Time to go finish off a few more leftover nibbles ...tomorrow on the way to visit Mum in hospital I might just give in and stop at the supermarket and buy a ready made Christmas cake  and Trifle ...Ooooh the shame!! ...What would my own Grandmother say??  She'd be turning in her grave ;) hehehe    And I'd best not tell Mum...we wouldn't want her to have a relapse and end up in hospital over the New Year too!!! ;) hahahaha

December 25th

Luke 2: 14 ... "Glory to God in the Highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men,"

We woke up this morning to the wonder of Jacob's fabulous organisational skills...
Oooh how I've missed him the last two Christmas's :) hahaha I have to say that the family room didn't quite stay so neat and tidy  ;) hehehe It was soon a sea of  opened gifts and torn wrapping paper. We had lots of laughter and smiles and giggles. My Angels were very excited once they realised what was happening, Bubba Daniel was bright eyed and awe-struck at all the activity and excitement.
Whilst Hubby prepared Christmas dinner, Abi, bubba and I drove over to Preston and spent a couple of hours with Mum in the hospital, she looked brighter today, which is a good indication that the intravenous antibiotics are working. The doctors are hopeful that she could possibly come home on Wednesday...which would be lovely. We took Mum her Christmas stocking to open but saved her gifts for when she is home and we will give her another 'Christmas Day' :)
We were home for 4pm ready to help with the final preparations for dinner. This year we were a teensy bit naughty and the boys (not Hubby...he is adamant that he had no part in the shenanigans!) ..my boys borrowed one of the long trestle tables from Church ...as in I believe they sneaked it out the back door and into the back of the van and brought it home for us all to sit around for dinner...it worked like a charm. Instead of eating at the kitchen dining table as we normally would do, we set the trestle table up in the family room and all sat around it , even my Angels who find sitting still at the dinner table challenging sat beautiful ...it must have been because we kept referring to it as the naughty Christmas table :) The boys, Jake and Nathan, now have to find a way to sneak it back into the Church building! I think I'm with hubby and want no part in those shenanigan's   ( I had asked them to ask permission first...I think, I hope they did!!) :)
All in all we had a lovely Christmas day, we spent time with our loved ones and enjoyed one another's company.  We remembered loved ones not with us anymore and shared more smiles than tears. We remembered that all that really counts is family and that we love one another so very much  :)
Christmas love,  Wendy x x

December 24th

Luke  2: 11 ... "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."

Happy Christmas Eve! :)  We have our stockings ready, hope you've hung yours too!...In fact now my Jacob is home and after 2 long Missionary years in Spain, we have him back slaving away under the Christmas Tree whilst I try to snuggle excited sugar-high Angels to sleep ;) Jake's job (since he became an older teenager and possibly didn't quite fully believe in Father Christmas anymore :( Its sad days when they stop believing)  Jake's job has always been to fill the stockings and place the gifts under the tree :) I'm excited to know he is home downstairs, organising the gifts and stockings this year :)
Unfortunately our Christmas Eve  didn't quite go as planned.  Hey-Ho ... thats often the way things happen. The Angels have been a little agitated and anxious this last few days with me being gone quite a bit with visiting Mum in hospital, because of this we decided to miss the Carol Service at Church this morning, its always very well attended and I wasn't sure the Angels would be up to the crowds...Jake and Abi and Nathan went and they said it was very busy and hectic so I feel happy that I made the right decision even though I would have liked us all to have gone and sang carols together. Sadly Great Grandma didn't come home today and is still in hospital and likely to be for several days yet... I'll be surprised if she is home before the New Year :(  But trying to make the best of things we decided that we would ALL go and  visit her this afternoon to share our Secret Santa gifts and let her know how much we love and miss her. It was going so well until we got to the hospital and unfortunately Angel Esther got quite distressed walking through the hospital and had several Myoclonic seizures :( I should have thought that my Angels would get anxious going to visit, it was a Hospital and as far as they are concerned nothing good happens in hospital :(   My poor Angel was quite fraught by the time we got to Mums ward and seeing her in bed just sent her into a flurry of tears....I felt like such a bad Mum, it was really awful, she was soooo upset and everyone was looking and staring at my poor little Angel that was sobbing and inconsolable.. why I didn't think visiting Great Grandma wouldn't cause her stress I don't know :( So Hubby and Jacob quickly gave Mum a  hug and got the Angels back down to the car and on the way home as quickly as possible ...Jake told me later that Angel Esther was sooo shaky that he ended up giving her a piggy back all the way to the car ...Thank goodness for loving. strong. big brothers :) Lesson learnt ... and we wont be taking the Angels to visit at the hospital again! I stayed a while longer visiting  Mum  with Abigael and Nathan and bubba Daniel, he was a cheeky little monkey too...flashing those big brown eyes of his and giving coy smiles to all the nurses! :) After the initial excitement I think Mum enjoyed her 'family' visit, we took her a small Christmas Tree with lights on and some cards and treats. I'll go visit her tomorrow, probably in the morning before lunch, its a shame shes not in our local hospital which is 5 minutes drive away, but she's in Preston which is about 40 minutes away by car...if she was closer I could have taken her Christmas dinner and it still be warm ..hahaha :)

Once home and after comforting and snuggling my sad little Angels we decided to have some sticky ..and licky! ;) fun and decorate some ginger bread cookies...
I found these boxes of ornament cookies a week or two ago in the supermarket, the cookies are already made and you get some sugar sprinkle shapes and little tubes of icing to decorate them with...great fun for my Angels  :)
We had excited  busy fingers decorating...
 Careful, precise fingers...
Sticky, licky fingers, that had to keep nibbling! hahahha :) ...
and fat sausage fingers that struggled to pick up the teensy sugar decorations ...although I think he did quite a good job amidst his grumblings ...hehehehe
The few that survived the licking and sticky fingers, we sent a few over to Abi and Nathan... (not the sticky ones! hehehe)
I'm not sure they are going to last long enough to go on the Tree, but I ended up with happy, giggly, Angels with sugar-icing smiles and no more tears :) A perfect end to a slightly fraught day for them.

My Angels  are both fast asleep now so I will close and catch up on some sleep too, its been a busy few days and I am pooped! :)   Santa's  Jacob and Hubby  have just come up the stairs to bed too,  so all is prepared for tomorrow morning :) .... I'm sooo happy to have my Jake home and having him help Hubby with all the preparations is just wonderful. Wishing all my family and friends a very Merry Christmas  :)
lots of love,  Wendy x x

December 23rd

Matthew 2: 19-21 & 23 ... "But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life. And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel....And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene."

Another long day at the hospital with Mum :(   Why is it  that hospital visiting  makes you soooo sleepy and tired when all you are doing is sitting and talking and keeping company?  Yesterday I felt like I was falling asleep all the time. Today I was more prepared and remembered to take some sewing with me. I managed (after several years!?!) to finally add the last poinsettia and back with a lovely rusty red wool fabric  this Christmas sampler cross stitch design by Brenda Gervais ...no idea why I'd not finished that poinsettia but that was all that needed to be done. I might add some edging..I think I have some mini pompoms somewhere ...hopefully that wont take me years to do too! ;)

I also continued on with some stitching of my current project...
"Dec.25th" by Mosey'n Me.... I've tweaked the thread colours slightly. The original is more a folk Art Woodsy Santa with a Brown Hat ...I've changed mine to the traditional red. I'm pleased with how its progressing so far, as always the block white stitching in the beard drives me slightly nuts ...I don't know why white thread does that to me but it does ! hahaha :) I'm hoping Mum can come home very soon ...I really don't mind if not visiting  her in hospital means  it slows down my stitching as long as I can have her home in time for Christmas :)

December 22nd

Matthew 2: 11-14..."And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream. saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. And when he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt."

Sorry, its going to be short and sweet tonight, Great Grandma has decided to up the festive excitement and take a ride in an ambulance with flashing blue lights  and sirens. We think it is a flare up of her gall bladder again, another infection...poor mum :(  Its  not the best of times to be going into hospital, fingers crossed, with the double dose of antibiotics the doctors  are giving her and we may get her home for  Christmas day. And I've still not wrapped a single present :(

December 21st

Matthew 2: 1-10..."Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of  Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem. Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea;for thus it is written by the prophet. And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Judaea, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said,Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy."

Well school is finished for the next 2 weeks and even though Day Services are still open in and around the Christmas break, Angel  Esther will stay at home to enjoy the school holidays  with Angel Mim...I know it probably sounds a little back to front but in some ways its actually less stressful having the girls home together, hard work but less stressful for all 3 of us! :)  hahaha
I ran around like a headless chicken today. I  braved the supermarket for some much needed shopping ...2 hours and 15 minutes it took to buy the Turkey and vegetables, the aisles were full and there was hardly any space to move your trolley. I like using the 'zapper' machine, as I call it, so that I can pack my groceries and shopping as I go along and I find its much quicker at the self service  checkouts too, so at least paying and getting out is easy :) All I need now are just some last minute fresh items that I will hopefully send Hubby out for on Saturday ..he'll enjoy that ;) hahaha

Angel Mimi's bag was filled with more Christmas goodies ...
I love the Christmas Tree, it is  made from paper straws stuck together,  it is very pretty :) We also got another elf and some shiny stars and a glittery bell. I do soooo love all the Christmas crafts that come home. I've missed Angel Esther's pile of crafts, but she's a busy young lady and more interested in exploring her new environment at the moment. Maybe next year she'll do more crafts :)

Soooo with my Angels home, we are starting out as we mean to ...PJ's are already on, snuggle blankets are at the ready and Christmas films available at the push of a button. Right now its all peaceful and quiet as my Angels watch "The Nightmare Before Christmas" ...one of my favourites :)  I love evenings like this when we are all just so snug and cosy :)

December 20th

Luke  2: 15-20 ... "And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them."

I am pooped today :( Lots of last minute shopping...although I still haven't bought the Turkey!!!  Eeeakk! ...I have the pudding and lots and lots of cheese and crackers and nibbles, just no Turkey or vegetables :(  Instead of food shopping today (which is what I was supposed to be doing ...it was top of my to-do list!..hahaha) we took advantage of  Jake having finished  University for Christmas and Keith had a day off work as did Nathan ...so once the Angels were at School and Day Services, we picked up Great-Grandma and with Abi and bubba we all went out for a Christmas breakfast (we had arrived too early for Christmas lunch being served, but we were all really  hungry so opted we for English breakfasts all around instead..hahaha) It was very yummy and fun being together eating breakfast out ...it always feels a little odd to me to go out to eat breakfast ... you don't get puddings with breakfast ! ;) hahaha   Then we trundled back to G-Grandma's little bungalow, filled it with all our bodies and helped her wrap some of her Christmas presents :) We had  lots of fun and did a lot of giggling as we worked,  we had people in separate rooms wrapping each others gifts from Grandam under the direction of  her very careful eye and command of the cello-tape roll!! ;)   I haven't wrapped one present yet!! ...If I'm not careful it will be Christmas gift bags for everyone...hahaha   (My Angels LOVE unwrapping presents, so I'll definitely make sure theirs are wrapped...ready to be ripped open ..hehehe)

This evening I tweaked a few bits and bobs with my decorations...
I Love this Santa pocket with the teensy Maileg Santa inside

A little Gingerbread man tree by the front door :)

I've acquired quite a few Robins ...so I decided they could all roost together in this little house cubby, also near the front door :)

And I found a safer place for my favourite pottery Santa to hide :) A few years ago he was bashed by a rogue football (!!!!) and his coat tail at the back was cracked :(  I've been hesitant to get him out ever since (he's usually on the floor by the hearth) But so far, so good, he's been safe and sound up on top of the dresser :)
Last day of School and Day Services for my Angels tomorrow :) My list of to-do things doesn't seem to be getting any shorter ...but I really must think about buying that Turkey! :)

December 19th

Luke 2: 8-14 ..."And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

More treasures from Angel Mim's Christmas art activities at school ...
today we got a cute elf and some beautifully painted tree decorations and a lovely Moosey Christmas card...or is it a Reindeer?..Naaah, definitely a Moose ... I think :)

I tweaked a few things in the kitchen ....

Well I actually added a few bits and pieces that I found in a random shoe box in the Quiet Room...hehehe ...I must have forgotten to pack them away with everything else after I'd filled all the Christmas boxes in the loft after Christmas last year ...that's why my Quiet Room is soooo full; because I forget to pack away all the little  bits and bobs...it has absolutely nothing to do with having tooo much stuff!!! ;) hehehe

Only two more days of School and Day Services for my Angels, then they are home for the Christmas and New Year holidays and don't go back until the 8th and 9th of  January!!! I have a lot of shopping and cleaning and wrapping to do before the end of day on Thursday!...Best get to it :)

December 18th

Luke 2: 4-7..."And Joseph also went up from Galilee. out of the city of Nazareth. into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn."

Today  has been a busy day of shopping for iddy biddy bits of this and that; some stocking fillers, hunting down marzipan treats, bells for Abi, ribbon and other bits and bots...   I needed some ribbon as this evening I've been finishing some small tree decorations for Angel Esther to give to members of her support circle (the staff that care for her) at Day Services...
 I pinched some of Abi's bell too...hehehehe :)
Angel Mim brought some cute Christmas Tree decorations home that she won in a lucky dip christmas game at school. I think some of the College students made them ...they're quite cute..
..I might have to hope she wins some more! ;)

I found a few little treasures whilst I was out shopping at the weekend..
A teensy, weensy Nativity scene, that was just to small and sweet not to bring home :) Also a Nativity made out of Pewter, its quite heavy and solid.  I've not seen one like this before, I was intrigued and as it was selling for  mere pennies so I thought why not! hehehe The ceramic Angel lights up and again was just too pretty to pass up....I'm sooooo bad, I know! ;)

Mr Postman also called by today with a few more Christmas packages and a small purple envelope, containing ...
this lovely "Bethlehem" design by Little House Needleworks Designs, and the required threads came with it too  :)  Whilst I still have  my current cross stitch project in my hoop, and a few other smaller stitches to complete, I'd love to be able to make  a start on Bethlehem before Christmas...only a week to go! :)
Well those bells and ribbons wont attach themselves to Esther's gifts , I'd best get them finished ready for her to share out :)

December 17th

Luke 2: 1-3 ..."And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city."

Ooooh  I've had quite a late night tonight and almost missed posting the Advent scripture and picture for today ..hehehe :)   Abi and I had a late night date round at Grandma's home. We escaped from babies, Angels and menfolk to have a girly night watching the latest Agatha Christie  Drama/Film on TV ...'The Crooked House'. It was very good, we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a lovely bit of romantic post-war decadent escapism with a little bit of darkness and lots of Agatha Christie red herrings to keep you guessing right until the end ...although Abi had worked out 'who dun it' about 2/3rds of the way through ..hehehe
We had a lovely 'ladies evening' free from interruptions and filled with enjoyment and chocolate :)
I think Mum enjoyed the late night company too, so we'll have to do it again.
Time for bed now....

December 16th

Matthew 1 : 24-25 ...  "Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and called his name JESUS."

It's been a  cooooooold day today. A day to  just sit snuggling with my Angels watching Christmas films, trying to share the snuggle blankets ...but someone keeps wiggling when she giggles ..hahaha  Mr Postman keeps knocking at our door with parcels and packages ...almost all my Christmas shopping is complete this year! ;) I may have slipped a few sneaky purchases in with the gifts ..hahaha  We've sent hubby out in to the bitter cold to shop for snacks and treats ...I think he's actually happy to escape all the silly giggling ;)  Hopefully he'll bring back all our yummy favourites and none of the healthy boring treats...we girls want chocolate!  The rest of the weekend seems like its going to be even colder here, lots of frost and ice but probably no snow...that's OK we can wait on the snow until School and Day Services finish for the holidays....
Just waiting on hubby to get home with those treats now ..hehehe

December 15th

Matthew 1 : 20-23 .... But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."

My Angels each brought home some Christmas magic  after School and Day Services today...
Angel Miriam brought home a mahooooosive Christmas cake, it is very prettily decorated  ... with lots of little Angel Fingerprints!! Eeeaaakk!! hahahaha  :)   We did have a little sample and ...I'm not gonna lie...it was hard not to think about those fingerprints. I was just hoping they were clean fingers that had done the poking and not licked fingers ...hehehehe Lets just say I don't think Angel Mim's class used a Christmas cake recipe that I'm familiar with! ;) But judging by all the fingerprints, Angel Mim at least had fun making it :)  Angel Esther was no less creative , she brought home some potted Daffodil Bulbs and apparently added her own flair with a couple of decorative pine cones! ...Lets hope she was helped to plant those bulbs the right way up ...hehehe  :)
Cake and flowers all in one day ....I'm too spoilt :) :)

December 14th

Matthew 1 : 18-19 ... "Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily."

Today was Angel Mim's Christmas assembly at school. As always is was wonderful watching each of the classes get up to share their own  Christmas messages. Angel Mim's class did two little musical items, Jingle Bells and Little Donkey, My beautiful Mim-lou sat quietly and shyly on her chair with her classmates at the front, occasionally she'd forget to shake her bells but she looked so sweet if not a little starstruck at all the parents and other classes in front of her ...naturally she was the loveliest little thing there ;)  It did seem a little strange not to hear my Angel Esther clapping and giggling too. It was my first Christmas assembly without both my Angels turning around and waving at me and  I did feel a teensy bit tearful as I  missed seeing my Esther.  But I'm comforted knowing that she is settling well at Day Services, she's already used her Angelic charms on several of her support workers who seem to really enjoy caring for her.
I'm sat now with two very happy Angels, laughing hysterically as they watch "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" film on TV....they are just loving it  sooooo much ...hehehe My Angels certainly have a fabulous sense of comic timing and humor. :)

December 13th

Luke 1: 34-35 & 38 ... "Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. ... And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her."

Nothing much to report today, a peaceful, quiet, resting day once I'd got my Angels to School and Day Services ....soooo nice :)   I relaxed with some woolly stitching,  a nice hot chocolate and watching a film on  Netflix ...pure bliss ...hahaha
I put the final stitches in this "Winter Seasonal Basket" by Buttermilk Basin and it is now proudly sat in the rocking chair. I've a few more little Christmas projects to complete, Abi has very sweetly asked for a "My 1st Christmas" tree ornament for Bubba, so I'm busy gathering my threads and linen for that. I have started a new Christmas cross stitch design,  but even though its early days it is proving to be a fairly intense stitch...as in I need to be constantly referring to the pattern for stitch placements ...this one could take me awhile so I  may have to put it to one side in order to get Abis ornament completed in time for Christmas :)

We are heading into the last week of School and Day Services for my Angels, all the assemblies and parties and Christmas dinners are happening. I'm hoping to squeeze a day in where Mum and I might possibly be able to go out for a Christmas lunch ...with cake ! :) hehehe  And, I still have lots of Christmas food shopping to do too...there's no rest for the wicked ..hehehe.
I'm kind of glad I had a quiet day today ...I'm hoping I'm now fully rested and ready for the busy Christmas week ahead!

Luke 1: 31-33 .... "And. behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David. And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end."

I popped out with my Mum this afternoon...we were feeling the need for cake! :) We have our favourite haunts to sit and enjoy a slice of cake, one of which is our local Garden Centre! hahahaha ...Unfortunately it seemed everyone in Lancashire wanted cake today too ...there was a 30 minute wait for cake!!! Fortunately the garden centre is beautifully decorated for Christmas with lots of Christmas goodies to Ooohh and Aaahhh over and possible pop into a basket....well .... as we had a 30 minute wait for cake ...why not?...hahahaha
Mum and I decided to be twinnies today and bought exactly the same gifts (for ourselves!.. hahaha) We each got a resin star Nativity ornament and a cute snow-globe lantern with two winter robins inside ...Mum was super naughty and also got a second snow-globe lantern, with Father Christmas inside...she said she needed two to balance out her display at home! hehehe ...You can see where I get IT from, can't you!?

We were sooo pleased with our purchases we almost forgot to go back for our cake! hahaha :) The cake was super yummy, I had a lemon and blueberry slice and Mum had  lemon drizzle cake ...I'll be dreaming about that  Lemon and Blueberry cake tonight ...it was sooooo yummy! :)

I thought I'd quickly share Mum's decorating this year...we've tried to make it cosy and twinkly. She moved into her bungalow on the 23rd of December last year, not long after Dad had passed, everything was still all packed away and understandably, Mum really didn't feel like getting the decorations out. So this year we've gone to special lengths to try and make everything happy and sparkly for her ... Dad would have loved it too :)

You can see Mum  (and Dad too!)  love snow-globes as much as I do ..hehehe. I obviously get that from them too ;)   It looks very pretty all lit up in the evening and is even better with that lovely Photo of Dad on the Fireplace mantel smiling down...I'm pretty certain he'd approve  :)

December 11th

Luke 1 :28-30 .... "And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God."

Tonight my Angels have an overnight respite and after a busy day shopping in Manchester for some final Christmas gifts, I'm enjoying a quiet evening curled up on the sofa with my Kindle and a scrummy cup of hot chocolate....
...and my favourite buttery sultana biscuits ...yummy!  Ooooh and there are lots of mini marshmallows under all that whipped cream ...definitely a decadent treat :)

Amongst all my bags of shopping today  I did manage to slip a few extra purchases in ...hehehe  :) ...
I loved the tall red velvet Father Christmas, I think he's supposed to be a doorstop, but he's just too lovely to prop a door open so I have him stood proudly on the fireplace hearth ...I wonder how quickly Angel Mim will spot him when she comes in from school tomorrow?? :) hehehe  The wooden tree was on the reduced table at one shop and the Angels...well I couldn't walk away from two little wooden Angels now could I? :) I suspect those Angels will stay out all year round!

I put the final stitches in this little beauty last night....

'Kringle & Woolard' by Plum Street Samplers ...I loved absolutely everything about this piece, it was pure Christmas delight stitching it! :)
Well I best get back to that hot chocolate and biscuits ...ooooh they are sooooo scrummy-yummy-in-my-tummy ..as my Dad would say! :)

December 10th

Luke 1: 26-27 .... "And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth. To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary."

I spotted a little inconsistency with my decorating today...
My pretty little tree in the hallway is decorated with hand made ginger bread hearts....
It looks like someone has been feeling a little bit peckish and had a nibble of my Ginger hearts. As I said they were home baked, all fresh ingredients, no nasty additives .... that's OK???? Except .... I baked them about 4 years ago!!! Eeeaaakk ..I hope a certain Angel  isn't up all night with a tummy ache ...hehehehe ...poor little Angel Esther ...what is she like??? (You'll be glad to know no more nibbling has occurred this evening!)
