Its very late here, almost midnight...the witching hour :)  I'm snuggled up in bed with Esther (she's a bit 'twitchy' tonight :( so snuggling up with me so that I'm close by, just-in-case!) I have her cold little toes  and feet wrapped around my ankles ... its quite nice I have hot toes so I like her cold ones ..hahaha I should go to sleep but I'm just waiting for her to fall into a deeper sleep so that I know we're OK :)  I was going to watch a film whilst in bed, but there's only a scary one on TV ... 'Jeepers Creepers',  and whilst I like to be scared sometimes, I don't like lots of blood and guts scary films, I prefer the suspense type of scary film, so I decided to write instead :) ... Oooo this is rather boring dialogue, maybe I should wait to write until morning...lol!

Well its happened! Autumn has arrived.... Hooorraayyyy !!!! That means of course that its Pumpkin  Season here in the Kirby Home ... can you not hear the cheers of delight from my family??? For some unknown reason, they don't seem overly impressed with my Pumpkins ??? I think its just that they are untrained in the delights of Pumpkinism!! (I'm doing my level best to convert them ..hehehe)

So I've been busy this week scrambling about in the 'under the stairs cupboard', dragging out boxes and creating my pumpkin patch on top of the piano....
Looking a bit crowded there :) But I do love my pumpkins :)
I've also got a pumpkin table in the kitchen....
I've actually tweaked it a bit since I took the photo, but its more or less the same :)

I also have my favourite 'Spooky Corner' set up in the Family room, my old spookies have  been added to this year with a few more spookies ....
I'm in the process of making a little wool pumpkin runner that will sit on top of and disguise the music system... not quite finished yet :)
One woolly I did finish was my BOO hanging, have a closer look...
Its a Buttermilk Basin Design, kitted by PG (of course!) and was great fun to sew, I can't decide which is my favorite bit, the bone and the bat for the B or the pumpkin and ghost for the OO's, love the little spider too ;)  Ooo and that's a new Bobbin tree that I got from Karen of Primitive Treasures on E-bay, decided to make it into a Pumpkin Tree, nothing clever just sat some teensy pumpkins in the branches, very adventurous me ;) lol! hehehehee

These are my new goodies in the Spooky corner this year....
My Bobbin Tree from above, also some BOO boxes from my local Quilt shop in Southport. But my most favoritest  goodies are my mini 'Witchie in Training' and my 'Mummies', there's a Baby-Mummy and a Mummy-Mummy :) These are from Cindy of  'Homespun from the Heart', LOVE all her 'makings' :) I've wanted some 'Mummies' for ages so when I saw Cindy had made some more... well, I had to have them!

I do have some more pictures to share, still haven't shown you my yummy e-bay wool !  ;)   And there's another Buttermilk Basin design I've almost finished.... But it really is late here now , almost 12:45am or is it 'pm' ... always get them confused...its after midnight so am I 'am' now ??? Anyway Esther is most definitely fast asleep, she's unlikely to have a seizure now ( usually they happen within the first 10-30 minutes of her falling asleep...strange that they happen as she's fallen asleep I know, they can happen just as she's waking up too...) Fortunately she's been seizure free for almost 3 weeks now, well 2 weeks and 4 days... that's nearly 3 weeks , lol. And she's been medication free for just over a month, things are looking good, we just occasionally get the odd 'twitchy' night like tonight, but she's coping soooo much better, and eating like I've never known her to... 3 bowls of pasta the other night! Lol! Better than a forced spoonful, :)

Well my eyes are going blurry, its time for me to lay my head down on my nice soft pillow :) I'll try and come back tomorrow or Monday with those pictures....
Night, night...
Love Wendy x

Monday, 12 September 2011

It's a Happy Monday morning here!! I know we are well into September, and my Angels and Boy went back to school the middle of last week,  but today is the first day that aaaaaall my children are back at School and College, and the house is quiet for the first time in 9 weeks!!! 9 weeeks!! No one told me Colleges had longer holidays! ;) So I've done what any self-preservationist-home-alone Mum would do.... yes, I've been 'shopping' :) and I haven't even been out the front door yet .. hahaha ( I am erring on the side of caution and not declaring anything because me thinks there are spies round about and I need hubby to be chilled and happy before the packages start arriving.... I truly find that 'its much easier to receive forgiveness after the occurrence  than get permission before', especially when it comes to my little shopping adventures and hitting that 'add to basket' button :) hehehee { Not that I hasten to add is hubby the kind of man that I need to ask permission from...he's not a Caveman or anything but he does tend to have a better handle on the finance side of things!!?? Not sure why.. ? .. must be a man thing .. lol!} Anyway I don't want to land myself in hot water so I'll just say , those who know me can probably guess what I've been up too ... PG ;)  more info in a day or so cause you know I won't be able to contain my excitement for tooo long ;)

Summer seems to have been long and drawn out (9 weeks will do that to you!) We more or less survived it, the weather wasn't too bad and I don't feel that I've been tooo emotionally scarred by the whole 'summer holiday's'   experience... the kids are OK too ;) hahaha    I had my final summer class at the little quilt shop and all my fears about the 'dodgy ' pincushion were totally unfounded, ( I didn't do that one in the end, lol) For our last class we had a choice of 4 pincushions to do, I chose an Owl and another Mouse so I was happy :)
Here they are in all their glory ...

Sorry not a particularly good picture, too much sunshine...oops shouldn't be complaining about that here in wet and rainy Lancashire :)  And just in case you are wondering the mouse is supposed to be sat on a little pumpkin and he's holding a mini pumpkin, they are not tomatoes!! Just had to clear that up, there has been a little bit of confusion here in the Kirby household as regards tomatoes and pumpkins. Personally I think the 'confusion' ... because its plainly obvious to me that the mouse is sat on a PUMPKIN!!!...  is down to a couple of rouges who have big wooden spoons and like to stir... those rogues should just remember who's making their tea tonight! ;) lol!
I had a really lovely time at each of the classes, and I'm proud of myself that I actually completed each project. I even went as far as to make my own mouse pincushion...

on a giant PUMPKIN!!!! (well giant in respect of the size of the mouse not giant as in GIANT!) hahaha   Loved how he turned out, and he'll take pride of place when I get all my pumpkin decorations out later in the next  week or so ....Oooo the excitement .. It's Pumpkin season .. lol! :)

I've also been doing a little bit of cross-stitching during the holidays whilst watching the Angels play and generally get up to mischief...
These are from Blackbird designs, more pincushions and the back one is a folded needlecase, they all just need a little finishing off, seams sewn and some old lace around the edges...  simple enough for me to do :)  I've found them quite relaxing and enjoyable .. if I can just learn to crochet now I'd be ready to turn into an old maid ... except I'm married so would that be an old harridan ? No comments needed on that one thank you very much! ;)

Want to see my mega-mega -mega 'wonderous above all others' find???
It's a prim corner cubby!!
Perfect for displaying all my new little pincushions etc..
here's a closer look...
Isn't it just gorgeous!! It's one of my more brilliant wins on e-bay :) It's from the lovely Karen of Primitive Treasures (e-bay and blog) She 'primmed' it all up with her own fair hands and it is absolutely gorgeous, even Abigael shared a few ooohs and aaahs when it arrived and I unpacked it. Karen is a lovely, friendly lady and someone you'll reeeaally want to visit on E-bay!! Each time I walk into our family room, I catch a glimpse of it up on the wall and just smile... you know how I am with things that make me smile ... lol! And lo and behold little Angel fingers have made no move whatsoever to rip it down off the wall ... and don't go thinking its tooo high up for them to reach...nothing is ever to high for determined Angel fingers!! ;)

That's more or less it for now, its almost lunchtime here and my tummy is rumbling so I best go fill it up :)  I have a few more finds to share and a new woolly supplier on E-bay ;)  Soooo yummy! But I'll do that next time as the 'puter is slowing up  and I'm only getting hungrier :)
Will try to be back sooner than later ....

Hugs Wendy x
